Two years later half of them had disappearedthe victims of a wave of mergers that rocked the travel industry. Well-known brands like AirCal, Ozark, Piedmont, PSA, Republic, and Western Airlines disappeared almost overnight and other brands like American, Delta, and Northwest suddenly became much larger players. Now everyone’s wondering if it’s about to happen again.
